2014 CB/WR Prine Lewis, John Curtis High, Louisiana

2014 CB/WR Prine Lewis (5’9,175, 4.5) of John Curtis High in Louisiana, the defending state and national champions, is seeing interest in him increase as the 2013 season approaches.

While he doesn’t claim any offers currently, several programs are actively recruiting him. “Louisville, Southern Miss, Louisiana-Monroe, and Louisiana Lafayette are in contact with me.”

Lewis says ULL and ULM want him for a Junior Day and told Varsity Preps he feels close to his first offer. “I talked to the coaches from Louisville last week, they said they were about offer me at corner.”

Yesterday, Lewis attended Junior Day at Southern Miss. “It went very well, I really enjoyed myself.”

Lewis said he’ll take a few official visits before deciding on a program.

He feels the Cardinals are recruiting him the hardest. “All the schools are recruiting me pretty much the same, but Louisville maybe a little more,” Lewis said. “They told me they like my film, how physical I am, how I like to tackle.”

John Curtis will be dealing with sky high expectations this fall coming off a dominating performance in 2012. Lewis talked about his role and how he’ll mentor his younger teammates to handle the pressure to match last season’s success. “Now that I’m a senior, I have to take more of a leadership role and show our younger guys how to do things. I’ll push our underclassmen hard so we can win like we did last season.”

Lewis feels that the 2013 team can produce on a high level. “We’re working hard in the weight room, conditioning harder than last year, so I think that shows our dedication to bringing home another state championship,” he said. “We’ll get everyone’s best shot, but we’re prepared for that and we’ll just take each game one at a time.”
