Under-the-Radar: 2014 Jensen Beach (FL) QB Alex Ogle

2014 QB Alex Ogle (6’3, 195) of Jensen Beach High in Florida claims one offer from UMass. He’s also hearing from Tennessee, FAU, FIU, and MTSU.

The rising senior quarterback camped at the Clear Vision Clear Dreams camp where several programs sent coaches to get a closer look at the talent available in South Florida. Tennessee became interested in Ogle and has continued to recruit him since the camp a few weeks ago. “The UT coach said he liked my quick delivery and that I throw a great ball. He invited me to Knoxville to take a look at their program.”

Ogle talked about his trip to Tennessee with Varsity Preps. “It was a great experience. I’m waiting to see how some things turn out there, so we’ll see, but they definitely like me.”

The senior standout recently made camp stops at FSU, Auburn, Tennessee, and MTSU. He reports the Blue Raiders of Middle Tennessee are showing the most interest currently. “MTSU send me handwritten letters almost everyday. They were excited about me coming up,” he said. “The camp was great. The staff told me I’m No. 1 on their board, so I’m expecting an offer soon.”

Over the offseason, Ogle has continued to grow as a passer and leader of the Jensen Beach offense. “I’ve been working hard in the weight room and on the field. I’ve been doing 7-on-7 work with the receivers, getting in a ton of extra reps in the last few months. I think I’ve mastered the offense and what we’re trying to do, and I can trust my teammates to help me execute the plays called.”

The highlight of his summer was receiving one-on-one instruction from New Orleans Saints Pro-Bowler Drew Brees. “I got some great coaching from Brees,” he stated. “When we were called up to the stage to get our camp graduation certificates, Brees grabbed me on the shoulder, put his arm around me, and said, ‘I’ve been watching you closely. You did a great job out there. You have a lot of talent and you’ll make it somewhere. Keep working hard and keep doing the things you’re doing.'”
