Hialeah’s big, physical wideout spoke about how he earned the offers. “A few of the coaches from Syracuse were at practice and saw me perform. My coach called me over to the sideline, introduced me to the Syracuse staff that was there, and they told me I had an offer. I was excited, it’s an ACC offer.

“The ULL staff sat down with my coaches in the film room, looked over my highlight tape, liked what they saw and decided to offer me.”

“Things with Akron went the same way. I had a good practice when they were there, and I think combined with my tape they decided to offer.”

Francis told Varsity Preps he’s also being recruited by Michigan St., Boston College, USC, and Florida St.

This summer, he’ll camp at either Miami or Florida St., and maybe one or two others. “I’d like to travel to California to camp at USC, but we’ll see.”

The junior standout said he currently doesn’t have a frontrunner. “I’m still open right now.”

When choosing a program, Francis talked about a few factors that will be important to him. “I’m looking for a family atmosphere with good academics,” he said. “I want to be able to compete for a spot as a freshman, but I’ll work my tail off to get on the field early.”

Hialeah’s go-to pass catcher talked about the progress he feels his team made over the course of the spring. “We’ve had a great offseason. Everyone is focused and together, and we all believe in one another. I’m expecting to go deep into the state playoffs and be a serious contender.”

Individually, he’s been working on “my footwork, speed, and hands. I’m doing everything I can to help my team win a state championship.”

Francis has no timeframe on making a verbal commitment.

His offensive coordinator, Dennis Marroquin, says of Francis: “David is very physical. He has a great vertical leap. He can do it all and is a tremendous athlete. He possesses great hands. I believe he has the frame to put on 20 to 30 pounds of good weight. He is being recruited as a WR, OLB, and S. He’s been working really hard and he’s turned it up. He runs good routes, picks off passes, so you have an athlete that plays basketball as well and is earning some good offers, and I expect him to pick up a few more. He’s a full-qualifier, a great kid, and he’ll excel on the next level.”
