2014 CB Alex Jasmin, Melbourne High, Florida

2014 CB Alex Jasmin (6’1, 170, 4.53) of  Melbourne High in Florida posted 25 tackles, seven interceptions, and three forced fumbles last season. The athletic, ball-hawking corner has caught the attention of several state programs. “Miami, USF, FAU, FIU, UMass, UConn, and Pittsburgh are recruiting me.”

Jasmin told Varsity Preps that he’s very interested in the Hurricanes. “Miami is showing a lot of love right now. I keep in contact with a few of the coaches and I was invited down to watch spring practice next weekend. The Hurricanes also invited me down to a Junior Day.”

He spoke about what he likes about Miami. “It’s a great program, they have a history of putting Pro-Bowlers in the league like Ed Reed and Sean Taylor. I love the tradition there and that’s a big plus for me, I want to win and have a chance to play in the NFL.”

The junior standout also reported that Florida Atlantic and Florida International are expressing interest. “They keep in contact with my coach, and I’ve met a few of their coaches and they both want me for a Junior Day.”

A future ACC program has also taken notice of his ability. “Pittsburgh is showing a lot of interest and I’m hoping I can make it up there to check them out.”

Jasmin, who carries a 3.0 GPA, talked about his offseason plans. “I’ll be visiting UMass, FAU, and Miami for Junior Days, that’s next for me,” he said. “This summer, I want to attend every university camp in Florida.”

Currently, there are no official frontrunners for Jasmin. “I’m keeping my options open, but I like FAU, Pittsburgh, and Miami.”

There is no timetable for Jasmin on making a verbal commitment.
