2014 S Carter Jacobs, American Heritage Plantation, FL

2014 SS Carter Jacobs (6’1, 191, 4.6) of American Heritage Plantation in Florida is hearing from Marshall, Notre Dame, Boston College, Louisville, and Rutgers. Last season, he was named 2nd Team All-Broward behind a 61 tackle, four forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries performance.

Jacobs talked about the contact he’s had recently with universities. “I went to a Rutgers camp last summer and we’ve stayed in contact. They’re coming down in May for spring practice and I’m expecting them to offer.

“I’ve been in contact with Boston College, they told me they’re coming down in May to scout me and a few other underclassmen.

“I’ve talked to Head Coach Charlie Strong at Louisville, and he wants me to attend Junior Day and their spring practices. UL is visiting me in May, too.”

The Irish are interested in the junior standout. “I’m going to visit Notre Dame in two weeks. I came into contact with the Irish when they visited our MLB Michael Deeb, who’s on his way to South Bend, and I’ll be visiting for spring practice.”

Jacobs sports an impressive 3.8 GPA and 1610 on the SAT. Education will be among the most important factors when choosing a school. “The biggest things for me is education and tradition,” he said. “I’d also like to get on the field as quickly as I can. If I can make an impact on special teams, that’s quite alright. As far as school location, I’m looking for the program that fits me best, wherever that might be.”

He feels that American Heritage Plantation will be tough to deal with this fall. “I feel like we have one of the best secondaries in Florida. We will be a force to be reckoned with in Broward County this season.”

With spring practice starting May 1st, Jacobs says he does have a plan for having a verbal commitment in place. “I’m shooting for the end of summer, but only time will tell.”
